John Warner has spent
most of his adult life doing what his grandfather did for him. .
.teaching people about the medicinal plants found on and around the
Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee. His herb walks and herb seminars keep
him busy year round as interest in this topic continues to grow.
In 1993, Warner made a decision to start assembling all
his knowledge of these trees and roots, and put them in a book, called
Medicinal Plants of the Cumberland Plateau & Appalachian Mountains. This
book features over 200 color photographs of medicinal plants along with
their names, where they are found, what part of the plant is used to
make medicine, a description of the plant and its uses.
"I hope this book will help people gain a deeper
appreciation of the plants around us," Warner said. "Understanding the
traditional medicinal uses of trees, weeds, wildflowers and other plants
will help you gain a better sense of our relationship to the natural
world," added the author.
This book is not a Prescriptor. It is a field guide to
the Medicinal Plants found in Warner's corner of the world. . . East
Tennessee. The purpose of the book is to help you identify plants safely
and accurately.
All photographs in the book were made in the wild by
Warner and his son, Johnny F. Warner, II. Of Course, he would name his
son after his grandpa.
